Choose a room and select a scene. Then adjust the lighting and curtains to your liking.
AI-generated conceptual visualisation. Effects are illustrative and do not replace lighting calculations. Colour, dimming and finishes depend on the selected equipment.
Make use of daylight, preserve views and reduce glare. Hyperion adjusts shades to the sun’s position and each façade’s orientation; sensors can adapt the response to clouds and shadows.
Daylight contribution: 773 lx · Electric contribution: 0 lx · Difference from target: 273 lx.
The shade follows the solar path. Manual overrides can change the result.
Beam edge: 246 cm · floor plane
GLOBAL TV illustrative simulation. Design geometry: 3 m ceiling; 0 m office sill and 1 m suite parapet. The image composites light and fabrics; depth scale is shown in the diagram. This is not a measurement, certification or replica of Lutron’s proprietary algorithm.
The target strip changes; furniture stays fixed. Geometry considers unfiltered direct rays. Screen fabric also transmits light.
Manual commands and Stop override only that shade type. Re-enable its checkbox to resume automation. All windows stay synchronized.
Proportional teaching model, without a real sensor or room photometric calculation. Electric reference is assumed constant across white settings; an installation requires calibration per luminaire and CCT.
Try four strategies in Settings and shades. Hyperion provides solar tracking; lux and mix targets combine shades, sensors and electric-light dimming. Compatibility and programming are verified for each project.
For example, 70% daylight and 30% electric at a total target of 500 lx. Useful for comparing daytime environments. If the sky cannot supply enough, electric light can maintain the total while the percentage changes. The mix requires estimating or calibrating both contributions.
For workstations, reading or meetings: use daylight first and add only the electric light needed. The target applies to a defined area or plane; it does not ensure equal light everywhere. Glare control can limit admitted sunlight.
Light an aisle beside the façade or limit sunlight across a desk. Set penetration depth from the window in centimetres without moving furniture. This does not fix a shape or constant area in m²: orientation, sill and solar position determine the footprint.
Close shading under direct sun and reopen when the façade is no longer sun-facing. Exterior shading can reduce solar gains before glazing; it requires suitable hardware, integration and wind protection. The demo illustrates the movement rule with interior shades, not temperature or cooling savings.
DOE · Solar shading and windowsOther uses include limiting screen reflections, recovering views under clouds or shadows, coordinating end-of-day privacy and allowing temporary manual overrides. Outdoors, thermal priorities may change by season: winter sunshine can be welcome. These are project decisions; not every strategy is a native Hyperion function.
Choose how far direct sunlight may enter across the floor or work plane. The shade adjusts with date, time, location and orientation. The reachable zone depends on the window and solar angle: a screen filters light, while blackout fabric blocks it in the covered area.
A sensor in the work area compares available light with the target. Coordinated shading and electric-light dimming can compensate for changes. When daylight is insufficient, shades alone cannot meet the target.
Precise Lutron motor positioning allows shades to return to programmed heights and maintain alignment. Combined with geographic location, calendar, time zone and the façade’s true-north orientation, it enables solar protection tailored to each project.
Electric lighting can dim and, with compatible luminaires, tune white light or create colour scenes. The sensor reports light level; the system coordinates dimming and the colour programmes defined for the space. Tunable white and RGBW are different capabilities.
In an office, we protect workstations while using daylight near the façade. In a suite, we adjust sunlight at the desk. Fabrics and system configuration are specified for each installation.
Hyperion manages incoming daylight. The circadian simulation shows how it can be coordinated with lighting intensity and colour through the day. These are complementary functions. Explore the circadian cycle →
Quantum, Hyperion and QS shades coordinate daylight and electric light. The case documents dark 3%-open screen fabric, daylight sensors and personal control.

Berkeley Lab tests combine automated shades and electric-light dimming to use daylight while maintaining visual comfort. The FLEXLAB brief describes lighting savings up to 30% in the studied controlled zones compared with the same lighting without daylight dimming and with manual blinds. This is not a guaranteed saving for every building.
Berkeley Lab / FLEXLAB · study and conditionsA field study with randomized intervention and control groups found improved visual comfort and reported eye fatigue with adjustable task lighting. It supports adapting light to the user; it studied task lamps, not Hyperion or constant daylight.
Joines et al. · 2015 · WorkA crossover study of 30 office workers observed longer sleep with optimized daylight and views. Another study with 20 residents found improvements in sleep regularity and positive affect. These were short electrochromic-glass interventions with manufacturer involvement: they do not establish that constant lux produces these effects or validate a Lutron product.
Boubekri et al. · 2020 · officesWe aim for a visually comfortable space: fewer disturbing reflections and glare, sufficient light for the activity and personal control. This can contribute to a more pleasant experience. The cited evidence does not justify promising a specific stress reduction, disease prevention or extrapolating office and residential results to every public space. Constant desk illuminance also does not replace a circadian strategy: timing, duration, spectrum and light reaching the eyes matter.

Explore natural light alongside a tunable-white lighting programme, from before sunrise through to night.
Location and date change the solar path and daylight hours. Orientation adjusts light entering through the window: try East in the morning and West in the afternoon. The rendered shadows remain fixed.
Simulation speed shared by all windows and rooms.
0°: flat, closed slats. −90°: open to the left; +90°: to the right.
Visual simulation. Illustrative fabrics and speeds; mesh openness, light transmission and position are distinct quantities.
Clear-sky visual simulation. Location and orientation affect natural light; the scene retains its reference geometry and shadows. The artificial lighting programme is illustrative, not medical advice or a prediction of circadian effects.
Six spaces. Six circuits. Create your own atmosphere and explore how colour changes the perception of a room.
Animations start only when you press play. Smooth transitions without flashing; pause them or adjust each circuit.
RGBW adds an independent 3000 K white channel. RGB uses red, green and blue only.
Each key applies a complete scene. Editing a circuit stops the animation and preserves the visible combination.
AI-generated concept render. Approximate visual simulation, not a photometric calculation or medical treatment. Switching off leaves a dim reference ambient light.
One light. Four backgrounds. Explore how colour, temperature and direction transform the way we perceive an object.
